Orange Drink is a pro vegetarian/straight-edge/queer band from Chicago, Illinois that plays dance/indie/folk/art rock/noise music. Our performances are constantly changing and are consistently unpredictable. We would love to play a show at your house.
If an update is posted, and no one comments, does it make a sound?
Of course it does. Today is Black Friday AKA Buy Nothing Day.
I didn't go shopping, but I went out for lunch. Actually, if you think about it, I'm perennially out to lunch, no? Jim and Drew are burning the Swoon Method album as we speak. Is this post related to Orange Drink? Yes, because Swoon Method and Orange Drink are friends. I think Rachel is with her family as we speak. Her family is really sweet. They all came to an Orange Drink show, like a family team-building exercise. I billed their insurance calling it a "family counseling workshop"
Eat whatever works for you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We are thankful for our friends, family, and THE O.D. FANS - HOLLA BACK SOLDIERS!
Quick updates: Keith, the lead singer/guitarist of Swoon Method (the band that Drew plays drums in [although he is not playing drums on those recordings]) just sliced his index finger with a boxcutter!
Will he be able to play guitar at the big show in Springfield, IL this Saturday?!?!? Stay tuned sports fans!
I try to keep all of these updates related to music/Orange Drink, but I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention: MAD Magazine went from being published monthly down to quarterly a few months ago. As a former subscriber and someone mad about MAD, I'm really sad to hear this. I am going to get a subscription and encourage you to do the same, or at least write an obnoxious letter
to them and tell 'em Orange Drink sent ya!
HOLD. THE. PHONE. I finally made an archive for the past news. If you look at the first entry, it says:
I'm going to try to update this more often (I don't want to promise daily), but I'm not sure how the archiving thing is going to work.
Oh, how far we have come. This site is updated daily and now we've got an archive. The things you do to trick people to listen to your music. *wink*
I could tell you how excited I am about the news archive, but this song will express my feelings much better than mere words:
Orange Drink is on a little break for the holiday and as Drew gears up for his show playing drums for Swoon Method. Hemlock Records will be producing the EP this week. Should be fun! I'll let you know as soon as you can hear it/buy it.
Back when the website was barely updated, the message board attendance was really high. Now that the website is updated daily, the MB attendance is really low. I'm thinking about adding a commenting system where people don't have to log in if they don't want to. Any suggestions? What would make you sign up for a message board? What type of commenting system would you like to see? Ideally, it would be great if you could have one login for the comments & the message board. Well, I have to go do some vacuuming so I'll have to make this short. Swoon Method is playing a show this Saturday in Springfield, IL. Should be a big show! Go check it out if you are in the area and say hello to me.
Drew will be entering the 1 on 1 B-Boy battle: Battle To Be Known 3 tonight! Rachel might be performing a solo acoustic set at a house party if she is feeling better. Orange Drink: We split up and rock you, we unite and rock you.
Argh. My bike light was stolen after the Soapbox music event! I didn't even know it could come off, I thought it was screwed into the bracket. Anyway, Soapbox was awesome and I met some awesome new musicians. Thanks to Zirafa for hosting a wonderful event. I (Drew) performed by myself because Rachel lives really far away from the place and is feeling a bit under the weather. Wash your hands, people! ...and cover your mouth when you sneeze, but don't cover it with your bare hands. Sneeze into a shirt sleeve, scarf, or...cat.
Here I am updating the Orange Drink website while Rachel actually plays the music, and some people make out. Orange Drink is for lovers.
This is the part where I imploded.
Thanks to Jim, Zoe, Rosemary, Christina, Lisa, Miller, Laura, Billy, James, Jeremiah, Michelle, Miles, Jen, Tyler, Jarvis, Victor, Erika, Travis, Shami, and everyone else at the show! Special thanks to Mary Jane for the photos!
We are having a dance party! We have new and return guests with something for everyone. Victor Carreon, DJ Limbs, also makes his own music, definate must hear. Orange Drink dances your pants off. Happy Birthday Kaveh! Kaveh played drums for Orange Drink back in the day, and continues to provide input during the songwriting/production process. The Widowmaker features a sample of the first 5 seconds of his second self-released album of original compositions. He is an all around awesome guy. He runs The Audiozine.
Here is a picture of him and Nels Cline (of Wilco fame) just, you know, hanging out! Nels is teaching him how to play air guitar.
An embarrassment of riches for those of us who love rap! Not only do we have the world famous I Love Rap website, but now, allow me to introduce, I Love Rap - You May Not Know Edition. Doruk definitely dropped a Hieroglyphics track on there, so you know he has mad credibility.
In other news...if you didn't see it, it didn't happen! HAHAHAHA!
